Jeff Pietrzyk was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, with four brothers and one sister. Jeff served in the United States Air Force after leaving high school. When his tour of duty was complete, he went to work at the Chevrolet Engine Plant in Tonawanda, New York, where he became a member of UAW Local 774.
While working for General Motors, Jeff became active in the union. For 40-plus years, he has served the union membership in the various capacities such as Committee Person, Shop Committee Person, Zone Committee person, Alternate Top Negotiator, Top Negotiator and Co-Chairperson, Shop Chairperson and Top Negotiator and Chairperson. In 2006, Jeff was appointed by Region 9 Director, Joe Ashton, to the International Region 9 staff.
In 2010, Jeff was honored to be appointed by UAW General Motors Department Vice President, Joe Ashton, as his Administrative Assistant and UAW Executive Co-Director of the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources. This position allows Jeff to sit on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
Jeff is proud of his Polish ancestry and was honored in 2009 with the General Pulaski Polish Labor Leader of the Year award.
Jeff married his childhood sweetheart, Carol, and they have two children, Karen and Jeffery. Karen's graduate degree in Human Resources is being utilized in a General Motors plant, and Jeffery is a lieutenant in the United States Navy J.A.G. Corps. Jeff and Carol are also the proud grandparents of four grandchildren, Sarah, Brandon, Ryan and Ashleigh. Jeff's greatest joy is spending time with his family.
