Alexander's background includes a 23-year history of numerous leadership positions with Westin Hotels & Resorts. His last appointment with Westin was Managing Director of one of the nation's largest hotels, The Westin Hotel Detroit-Renaissance Center (now the Detroit Marriott). He held that position in properties across the country including San Francisco's The Westin Miyako; Chicago's The Westin Hotel-O'Hare and The Westin Hotel Cincinnati. Alexander is a member of the International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus, the American Society of Association Executives and Meeting Planners International.
In the past, he served as an appointee to the first White House Conference on Travel & Tourism and as a Travel Commissioner of the Michigan Travel Bureau. He holds a board seat for the Automobile National Heritage Area, Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, Michigan State Fair, National Kidney Foundation of Michigan and The Parade Company. He is also one of only 60 industry CEOs appointed to the Travel Business Roundtable. During Detroit's tri-centennial celebration in 2001, Alexander was enlisted by Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer to serve as a commissioner directing the events of the celebration and the heritage archives. Most recently, he was appointed to serve on the Ontario/Michigan Tourism Action Group.
