Marvin Beatty served for more than 22 years with the City of Detroit Fire Department retiring as Deputy Fire Commissioner, the first African-American to hold that position in the Department's history. Following his tenure as Executive Director at the Wadsworth Community Center in Detroit, Mr. Beatty was appointed to the Detroit Board of Zoning Appeals, a position he still holds. He formed New Millennium Consultants with his wife, Maxine Beatty. Mr. Beatty has shareholder interest in Greektown Casino, is a member of the Greektown Casino Management Board, and is the spokesperson for the Casino and the Management Board Community Relations. He currently serves as a Board Member for the NAACP, Detroit Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Boys Hope Girls Hope, The Coleman A. Young Foundation, and Downtown Detroit Partnership along with many other organizations throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. Mr. Beatty received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Management from California Coast University.
