Sandra van Meek

Director of Programming & External Affairs

Sandra van Meek is the Director of Programming & External Affairs for
the Conservancy. In her role, she will lead all programming activities
and external affairs, including marketing and communications for the
organization, as well as the Detroit RiverWalk, Dequindre Cut Greenway,
and all associated properties.

Prior to joining the Conservancy, she served as Vice President of
Marketing and Community Relations for the New Jersey Devils where she
worked with her team in planning and executing the opening of Prudential
Center in 2007 in Newark. In her 17 years of sports marketing and
communications, Sandra has worked with the New York Mets, Atlanta
Falcons, the 1997 World Series Champion Florida Marlins, and the Atlanta
Braves.

Sandra began her career in sports while studying at the University of
Georgia where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Spanish
Literature. A native of Miami, she is an avid runner, having run in a
number of marathons including qualifying for and running in the 2005
Boston Marathon.
