The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy was proud to once again support the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon with a portion of the official race course set along our beautiful RiverWalk on October 18. Race supporters joined the Conservancy to cheer on the runners at the "Detroit RiverFront Conservancy Spirit Station" along the route near the Omni Hotel. The spirit station was located between miles 23 and 24 of the race - a crucial point of the race for any runner and one that was certainly appreciated by the marathon participants.
Following the race, runners, their families, volunteers, and spirit spectators were invited to the Official Marathon After-Party that celebrated their accomplishment with food, drinks and live entertainment by recording artist, Brian Vander Ark, and local sensation, The Killer Flamingos.
