Robert Sestok (b. Detroit, Michigan, 1946)

Robert Sestok lives and makes art in Detroit. His work has been exhibited and commissioned by museums, private collectors and institutions across the country. Sestok was included in the 1980 exhibition Kick Out the Jams at the Detroit Institute of Arts. This landmark exhibition featured work by artists of Detroit's ‘Cass Corridor', an art and cultural movement which developed in and around Wayne State University beginning in the 1960's.

The artist stated that Free Form 5 was created "without any preconceived notion as to where anything would go". Though spontaneously assembled, the artist's skill in creating a sculpture with movement and balance is evident.
