WELCOME TO THE DETROIT RIVERFRONT

The non-profit Detroit RiverFront Conservancy was formed in 2003 with the mission of bringing public access to Detroit's Riverfront and serving as a catalyst for economic development in the city. The ultimate vision is to develop five and a half miles of riverfront from the Ambassador Bridge to just east of the MacArthur (Belle Isle) Bridge.

Thanks to the strength of our public/private partnership, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy celebrates the successful completion of three miles of development on the east Riverfront, including pavilions, plazas, parks and green space, all connected by the ever popular RiverWalk. Already it is becoming an extension of Detroiters' backyards and a not-to-be-missed destination for visitors.

DETROIT RIVER DAYS 2013

River Days Aerial

The Detroit River Days Festival presented by the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, returns June 21-23, 2013. This one of a kind festival takes place along the Detroit Riverfront - from the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority Terminal & Dock just west of the GM Renaissance Center, to Rivard Plaza and the William G. Milliken State Park. River Days is a celebration of Detroit's RiverWalk with activities on land and water. Experience all the RiverWalk has to offer, from the tall ships, jet-ski demos, and riverboat tours, to live music, sand sculptures, kids activities, delicious eats, and much more!

For more, visit the River Days festival website here.

Also returning is the popular DMC River Days 5K!  For those looking to get moving while raising money for a great organization, gather your friends and family for the DMC River Days Run on Saturday, June 22nd.. Proceeds benefit the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, the stewards of Detroit's historic and international RiverWalk and Dequindre Cut Greenway. This 5K run and walk will showcase the Detroit RiverWalk and Milliken State Park, and provide a healthy, fun experience for participants.

Registration for the River Days 5K is NOW OPEN: click here.

In its second year, 15 artists will be selected to showcase their large, weather-worthy pieces, and win cash prizes of more than $15,000.

The purpose of the event is to promote arts and culture in Detroit and to showcase the Detroit riverfront. The attraction is intended to raise the already renowned quality of programming and culture at River Days, as well as to promote the Arts to the Metro Detroit community and specifically to the 100,000 plus people who attend the River Days festival.

THE TRANSFORMATION CONTINUES

The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy is bringing the Detroit River, our source of drinking wwater, irrigation, recreation and a gateway for shipping and transportation for more than 300 years, back into the spotlight. By creating a natural environment in an urban setting, we are reconnecting people with nature, each other, their communities and with the river that has been the very lifeline of Detroit.

While there is much to celebrate and many milestones have been reached, there is much work that remains to be completed. The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy continues to raise funds to support costs associated with the construction and our ongoing operations, maintenance, security and programming, as we strive to complete our vision for a beautifully transformed and vibrant riverfront - from "bridge to bridge" and beyond.
