Your Detroit riverfront is a year-round destination providing a host of options for you to come out and embrace winter and the outdoors. From Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing on the Dequindre Cut to our monthly Riverfront Canine Club walks; the riverfront is an ideal locale to discover the true beauty of winter.

Spring, summer, fall or winter - the Detroit riverfront is meticulously maintained. The upkeep of your riverfront continues throughout the winter months. From the beautiful winter plantings of Fraser Fir, Western Cedar and Red Twig along the RiverWalk, to our routine maintenance schedule of regular snow removal - our operations crew is hard at work to ensure that the riverfront remains beautiful, safe and accessible for all visitors. The cold weather can bring a winter wonderland of training possibilities on the riverfront. In fact, the cross country men's and women's team from Wayne State University find the setting ideal for their cold-weather training.

With some understanding of how to prepare for chilly temperatures, and a willingness to venture into the cold, winter on the riverfront is an incredible time for outside fun and training opportunities.

During the winter months, our security team is also busy making sure that the RiverWalk and Dequindre Cut remain safe and secure for all visitors. By utilizing a number of measures including a state-of-the-art closed circuit television monitoring system, vehicle and foot patrols - the RiverWalk and Dequindre Cut is monitored year round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
