
Lunar New Year Celebration, presented by Visit Detroit
Head to Winter at Valade’s Lunar New Year Celebration, February 14 at Robert C. Valade Park!
Join us for an interactive Lunar New Year celebration with the Michigan Taiwanese American Organization (MITAI), featuring a festive and colorful parade, lion, dragon and Nezha dances, hands-on arts and crafts and musical performances from a Chinese orchestra and K-Pop group. Indoor activities include Chinese character name translation, temporary tattoos, crafts, learn Mandarin opportunities, costume photo opportunities and more.

Noon - 6 p.m.: Food Vendors including Lor Bistro Hmong & Asian Street Food and Paradise Street Eats & Biryani
Noon - 4 p.m.: Activities throughout Valade Park
1 p.m.: Lunar New Year Dragon Dance & Parade
1:30 p.m.: Lion Dance & Drum Performance
2:30 p.m.: Dragon Dance
3 p.m.: Lion Dance & Drum Performance
3:15 p.m.: Nezha Dance
3:30 p.m.: FASCA MI Traditional Music Ensemble
3:45 p.m.: AXSA K-Pop Performance
How to get here
Free parking for the Lunar New Year Celebration is located at the Aretha lot on the corner of Atwater and Chene, entrance on Chene. Free street parking is also available throughout the surrounding streets. Please follow all posted parking directional signage and do not park on Atwater Street.

Other transportation options include:
- DDOT Jefferson bus #9 to Chene stop. Walk 3 blocks south towards the river and Atwater street.
- MoGo, Detroit's bike share program, has stations throughout Metro Detroit. Pick up a bike from your nearest station and ride to the Atwater and Joseph Campau station. From there, walk one block west along Atwater to Valade.
- The Connect shuttle runs a free loop from the Rivertown area to Michigan Central Station in Corktown along Atwater, Jefferson, Fort, and Michigan. Ride to the Atwater or Jos Campau/Wright stop from any station along the route. More at this link.
