McGregor Fund
Campbell was appointed the Executive Director in 1995 and was elected President in 1999 and was elected to the Fund's Board of Trustees in 2003. The McGregor Fund is a private foundation established in 1925; in its 77 year history, the McGregor Fund has provided over 3,800 grants totaling more than $145 million. Prior to that, Campbell headed the program operations of the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan. He joined the new foundation in 1986 as program officer and was named Vice President for Program in 1990. He spent six years as Dean of Students at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and before that, held various student life positions at Alma College. Campbell has a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alma College. In 2001, Campbell was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Council of Michigan Foundations. He was previously the Council's Vice Chair for Private Foundations. In 2000, Campbell assumed the chairmanship of the Detroit Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Local Advisory Committee. In 2001, Campbell was appointed by Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer to the Board of Directors of the Greater Downtown Partnership. Campbell serves on City Connect Detroit and City Year Detroit. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Michigan Nonprofit Research Program, and the advisory board of the Learning to Give Project.
